Peppermill expansion

Blue Man Group, Jan. 19

Holiday shopping, California Avenue-style
CalAve Holiday Stroll The fourth annual CalAve Holiday Stroll will take place on Dec. 13 from 5-9 p.m. If you've never taken part in this fun, funky event, this is the year to do it.

California Avenue has grown up from its days as an office-lined street, barely supporting a few eating places. Today it's one of the city's most sought-after neighborhoods, complete with trendy boutiques, family-friendly eateries, chic bars are more. Each year, the merchants association hosts the Holiday Stroll, which gives folks the opportunity to do a little shopping, enjoy the lights and decorations and maybe even take a carriage ride.

Santa Crawl 2007: Good times for a great cause, Dec. 15
Santa Crawl 2007Just as the chaos of the holiday season mounts to its apex, the Reno downtown bar district will get its annual visit from the parade of pub-crawling Santas prepared to spread Christmas cheer.

The evening begins around 7:30 - 8 p.m., Dec. 15 in downtown Reno at two locations, where red-suit clad men and women meet to pick up their maps and joyfully mingle through the downtown district, stopping at 22 selected locations, bringing the joy of giving to revelers along the way.

The event, free to participants, can be expected to bring in about $4,000 to $5,000 in donations to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. The venues along the route are asked to donate to the cause, and as a reward for their generosity, they receive a visit from the crawling Clauses.

Peppermill unveils new restaurant, convention center and hotel tower
Courtesy of Peppermill Hotel CasinoBe prepared to be dazzled, Tuscan-style, as the Peppermill opens its $400 million expansion. The Peppermill's 10th and newest restaurant, Biscotti's, opened Nov. 22; the 62,000 square-foot Tuscany Ballroom opened Nov. 30; and the 600-room luxurious Tuscany Tower opens Saturday, Dec. 15.

Touches of Tuscany are coming to life as construction crews work on the final details.

In Biscotti's, artists are carefully painting beautiful murals, inspired by artwork found in Italy, on the restaurant's walls and ceiling. The Biscotti's menu is inspired by flavors from around the world. Peppermill chefs traveled near and abroad searching for ingredient combinations to tantalize your taste buds such as Italian flatbread pizzas, grilled-shrimp paninis and Singapore garlic noodles.
