'Forbidden Broadway' kicks off the New Year at Eldorado
The Eldorado Hotel Casino starts the New Year off on Broadway -- with the 25th Anniversary Tour of the 2006 Tony award-winning show Forbidden Broadway.
This side-splitting spoof takes the stage in the Eldorado Showroom from Jan. 8 through Feb. 17. The 25th Anniversary Tour of Forbidden Broadway, will dish out the dirt on some of Broadway's biggest hits and misses.

13th Annual Brew HaHa set for Jan. 26 at John Ascuaga's Nugget
Nevada's biggest party is back, bigger and better than ever, as Brew HaHa XIII returns Saturday, Jan. 26 to the Rose Ballroom at John Ascuaga's Nugget.
Celebrating an effervescent fermentation of music and brews, this year's 13th annual benefit for Sierra Arts features the popular Shane Dwight Band as the evening's headline entertainer. And, once again, a single price includes responsibly unlimited tastings from more the 25 microbrewery selections.
Hours for this year's Brew HaHa are 8 p.m. to midnight. Purchased in advance, tickets are $50 per person general admission, and $60 each for reserved seating with early entry. General admission tickets purchased the day of the event will be $60.

Eighth annual Reno-Tahoe Winter Wine and Ski Expo at Atlantis
Atlantis Casino Resort Spa will host the eighth annual Reno-Tahoe Winter Wine and Ski Expo 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Atlantis Grand Ballroom. Last year the event raised $23,000 for the Heuga Center for Multiple Sclerosis.
Several great regional restaurants, award-winning wineries, microbreweries and area ski resorts from Nevada, California and Oregon will come together to raise money to benefit Jimmie Heuga's Vertical Express for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
A wide array of fabulous silent auction items will be available, including everything from ski and snowboard equipment, delicious dinners, extraordinary wines provided by Encore Beverage, luxury hotel stays and much, much more!

Foo Fighters come to Reno Events Center Feb. 1
The Foo Fighters will be appearing at the Reno Events Center on Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and available by calling the box office at (775) 335-8840.

The Peppermill has announced that country music legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard will kick off the opening of the Peppermill's new Tuscany Events Center on Feb. 9 at 8 p.m.
Guests can sing along as Nelson and Haggard perform some of their classic hits such as Nelson's Always on My Mind, Georgia on My Mind, Mommas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys, and Haggard's Sing Me Back Home, Okie From Muskogee, and Today I Started Loving You Again.

Buying a used car, or trying to, anyway

I'm trying to buy a car right now ... two, in fact. For my kids. One's about to get her license, the other just totaled her car. So needless to say, I've been surfing Craigslist pretty much nonstop for weeks now, and I'm noticing some patterns about our local used car market ...
1) There are an insane amount of Jeep Cherokees for sale in this town. And they're cheap, for the most part. But I owned a Jeep Cherokee, and didn't have great luck, so .. pass.
2) A lot of jerks are using Craigslist to try and rip people off. At least a few times a day you see an ad that says something like "2004 Acura, $3000!"
