Man, oh man -- get ready for Fallon’s Octane Fest this weekend. Dubbed “a tire-smokin,' sand-throwin,' car-jumpin,' Nitro-burnin,' rockin'-and-rollin' extravaganza, this full-on action-packed, most bitchin’ event runs through Sunday.
Octane Fest is a brand-spanking new gearhead event custom-built for those of us who love turbo, the smell of race gas, demo derbies, drag races, Tuff Trucks, burnouts, two-strokes, four-strokes, back flips, pit crews, dirt jumps and all the glorious things little boys, bigger boys and some smokin’ hot babes are made of. Don’t miss Fallon’s most revved-up event of the season.

Since Octane Fest was announced, fans have kept a careful eye on that Christmas tree, watching the ambers and waiting for that June 10 green light as Octane Fest officially jumped off the starting line, but never fear, there is still plenty of top-end action before the checkered flag. So, stab it and steer, baby, and get over to Churchill County Fairgrounds and Top Gun Raceway in Fallon this Saturday for the area’s hottest full-throttle motor sports extravaganza on two and four wheels. This dynamite action-packed salute to super-charged horsepower and rock ‘n’ roll speaks to all of us who “feel the need, the need for speed.”

Friday night
The Marshall Tucker Band performs with The Jimmie Jamez Band and comedian Bruce Jingles 7 p.m. Friday night at the Churchill County Fairgrounds, 99 Sheckler Road, Fallon.

Saturday
Motocross lovers – check out the Freestyle Moto X Contest as Team LivFast’s area riders Kenny Bell, Dustin Miller, Brian Foster and Greg Garrison take on the devilish Metal Mulisha 7 p.m. Saturday at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. See Bell’s signature ‘Fat Flip’ while San Diego’s 14-year veteran punk band Unwritten Law performs with South Lake Tahoe’s Lavish Green and Unmarked Roads from Lodi, Calif. Tickets are $23, advance, $25 day of show.
Saturdays schedule also includes some cherry car shows: Octane Fest Car Show at Oats Park 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Forbidden Pleasures car show at Festivities Central from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out the tasty whips on display and stay for the burnout, hop-off and sound-off contests.

From 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. the Rattlesnake Raceway will feature IMCA Oval Dirt Track Races, one mile east of Fallon on Hwy. 50. For details call (775) 302-1160.

Sunday

The excitement continues at 7 a.m. with NHRA Lucas Oil Series race final eliminations at Top Gun Raceway. Call 800-325-7448 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for details.

At 10 a.m. the Vorra closed-course, off-road race begins at Rattlesnake Raceway.
