Outdoors or in, fine food will be found

The Space
When it’s warm enough to eat outside, the Stone House Cafe is one of the greatest places to eat in Reno. The fire pit is a great addition to the ambiance of the outside dining patio. If you make it to the Stone House during the warmer months of the year, sitting outside is a must (as are reservations).

The inside atmosphere is classy and decorated with concert promotion posters, but it is also cramped.

The Food

The food surpasses expectations. The salads are delicious, the burgers are huge and the dinner plates such as the Sautéed Chicken with Artichokes, Baked Crab and Avocado and the Loin of Lamb are all mouth watering.

The Drinks

The drinks are nothing to be impressed by. Ice tea, soda, a limited beer selection and overpriced cocktails.

Gotta Try

The New York Steak Charles ($26); a giant hunk of red meat covered in Gorgonzola cheese, horseradish and fried Bermuda onions. The meat was juicy and succulent and cooked perfectly to my tastes. The Gorgonzola cheese was a delicious compliment to mouthfuls of steak and horseradish. This dish should come with a post-it note stuck to the plate reminding you to breath in between bites. The sides of mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables seemed mere decorations to the 16-ounce steak. The potatoes had an enjoyable hint of garlic and were great. The steamed vegetables were soggy and heavy on the salt and butter.

Price 

A typical entrée runs between the $20 to $30 range with appetizers running between $10 and $12. Beware; while the specials sound (and are) delicious their prices are comparable to some countries’ space program budgets.
