Winter comes to Reno
Winter has finally come to Reno - and while all the snow sports fanatics have dug out their Subarus and strapped on their chains to head up the mountain, Reno offers plenty of recreation for those who don’t want to brave the roads.
Spend the afternoon gliding on ice at the rink on the river; follow it up with steaming hot drinks at Dreamer's Coffeehouse & Deli while overlooking the Truckee River. Go for a walk through the Riverwalk District and stop at Dharma Books to warm up. Dog lovers can take their powderhounds to the Rancho San Rafael dog park, and while in the neighborhood swing by the University of Nevada, Reno Quad to see the beautiful and Historic Morrill Hall. Reno-Tahoe Open
The 2008 Legends Reno-Tahoe Open takes place July 28 - August 3 at Montrêux Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nev. and is broadcast nationally on the GOLF CHANNEL. Celebrating its tenth year, the tournament is the only summer PGA TOUR West Coast stop and features a field of 132 PGA TOUR professionals competing for a $3 million purse. The Great Reno Balloon Race got underway Friday, Sept. 7 with a Mass Ascension of amazingly beautiful balloons, the Wells Fargo Hare and Hound competition, and a fun Tissue Paper Balloon Launch for local elementary and middle-school kids. The Balloon Race continues this weekend with early-morning Glow Shows, Dawn Patrols and additional Hare and Hound competitions.

Great Reno Balloon Race: Day Two
The Great Reno Balloon Race continued on Saturday, Sept. 8, with a pre-sunrise Glow Show and Dawn Patrol, and with the 2007 event's second Mass Ascension of more than 100 balloons. Team reno.com also got to capture the action high in the atmosphere from Gator, a balloon piloted by Hugh Ehrlich of Adventure Balloons in Las Vegas, Nev.

2006 Rodeo Parade
The Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West held its annual parade in downtown Reno on June 17. From prancing horses to crazy clowns, wide-eyed children to the venerable Shriners, the parade offered something for everyone.

Peppermill expansion
The Peppermill hotel and casino in Reno is undergoing at $400 million expansion. The 600-room, all-suite hotel tower will be decorated in Tuscan Romance.
